Old Victor's pedigree was unknown. He was a dog of 45 pounds. He was quite a vicious dog as many of the early ones appear to have been. Old Victor was the most important line sire. He died at the Crystal Palace Show in 1872, smothered in his bed. Such incidents were far from rare in these times.
